Jo Barsa, CPA is the Owner and CEO of Barsa & Company, serving as a source of strategic leadership in the accounting field for over 20 years.
In 1987, Jo developed her own accounting consulting firm, Barsa & Associates (now Barsa & Company)—a highly qualified and diverse team of experts who provide a suite of outsourced accounting and tax services, helping emerging businesses build and manage the infrastructure necessary to support and sustain corporate growth. During the early stages of the company, Jo developed an industry niche by recognizing the importance of utilizing technology in the accounting arena. In 2001, she spun off the software division of the accounting firm to form Barsa Technology Solutions, Inc., which she sold in 2009. Jo continues to provide software selection services to her clients, assisting them in evaluating their needs and making the best possible selection to suit their business. Jo and her team continue to provide high-touch accounting and tax services to their clients. Her nurturing approach to client service sets her apart from her competition.
Prior to launching her companies, Jo worked in the audit department of the San Diego office of Ernst & Young, where she earned her CPA certification.Jo Barsa has been recognized for her leadership by the San Diego Business Journal for the Women Who Mean Business (nominated in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009), Top 100 Woman Owned Businesses (ranked 34, 35, 36 and 37 respectively over the past 3 years), and was a finalist for the Most Admired CEO award in 2007.
Jo earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting from San Diego State University in 1983 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs. Jo is the President of the Ernst & Young Alumni Association, serves on the Board of Directors for Information Technology Alliance, and is a member of the Vistage International Member Advisory Board.
